Job Description

The Construction Project Superintendent is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects to ensure successful execution. This position provides direction and mentorship to Foreman and crews, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Physical and Environmental Factors: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Physical capability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed. Coordination of eyes, hands, feet, and limbs for skilled movement. Willingness to travel and be away from home for extended periods. 100% travel required. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Meet or exceed all safety, quality, and productivity requirements for assigned projects. Lead, direct, and mentor Foreman and crews to ensure timely project completion while achieving financial and non-financial goals. Recruit and retain skilled staff, promoting career advancement opportunities. Manage employee relations, including recognition, discipline, and performance evaluations. Evaluate and recommend subcontractors for approval. Initiate and recommend training and cross-training for personnel to enhance expertise. Plan and schedule projects effectively to meet deadlines. Monitor overall project performance against productivity, safety, and quality standards, proactively addressing issues as they arise. Review and approve daily time sheets, time reports, invoices, and other necessary documentation. Ensure daily preventative maintenance of construction equipment and promptly report issues to the Fleet Manager. Maintain communication with the Fleet Manager regarding equipment usage statistics. Understand and adhere to project contracts for assigned responsibilities. Follow all safety operational procedures, industry safety standards, and regulatory compliance, including OSHA. Cultivate positive working relationships with crews, customers, and subcontractors. Document and maintain a daily log of project events. Manage documentation and submit change orders for timely approval. Oversee subcontractors’ production, quality, accuracy, and inventory management. Ensure accurate project documentation, including redlines/as-builts, production footage, and subcontractor management to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Plan and coordinate mobilization of crews, equipment, subcontractors, materials, and other project-related items. Other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience: Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in a utility construction setting, with a proven track record of field operations including digging in urban and rural settings and operating heavy machinery such as backhoe/loaders, excavators, cable plows, and compact track loaders. Requirements: Valid Driver's License; Class A CDL preferred. Ability to pass pre-employment screenings. Strong leadership and motivational skills. Team-oriented, capable of collaborating effectively with crews. Embrace new technologies with a positive attitude. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft and Google G Suite. Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare project-related reports. Capacity to manage stress and handle a diverse workload. Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills.
