Salary : $53,289.60 Annually Location : Winchester, VA Job Type: Full-time Classified Department: Police Department Division: Police Department Opening Date: 11/25/2025 Closing Date: 1/1/2027 12:00 AM Eastern FLSA: Non-Exempt Description Duties and Responsibilities: On assigned shift, operate a police vehicle, bicycle, or walk to observe for criminal and traffic violations Look for suspicious activity and check on suspicious persons Check on disturbances of law and order and arrest suspects who violate the law Write and report incidents Respond to radio dispatches and answer calls/complaints Serve warrants and testify in court Other duties as assigned Requirements: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Valid driver's license Ability to be a certified police officer in the Commonwealth of Virginia within twelve (12) months of date of appointment as a law enforcement officer 20-40 uncorrected vision and no proven symptoms of being color blind Ability to work indoors and outdoors during various hours such as nights, weekends and holidays The City of Winchester is an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other classification protected by law.
