Part Time Avionics Systems EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a part-time Sr Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team in Long Beach, CA. The role involves applying engineering knowledge, principles, tools, and techniques to enhance and upgrade the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension.Responsibilities Rapidly integrate into the team and apply an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis, design, development, system-level test/verification, and validation of the C-17 Flight Management System (FMS) and other Avionics Systems. Develop new capabilities for the C-17 using job principles, theories, and concepts. Focus primarily on the Flight Management System, responsible for flight planning, navigation guidance, control display, and automation of the aircraft. Leverage excellent technical and communication skills while being aware of business constraints. Essential Skills Proficiency in Flight Management System (FMS). 8+ years of full-time aerospace experience in aircraft, avionics, flight controls, propulsion/engine controls, and/or other aircraft electronics. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Experience in leading systems/software development programs. Additional Skills & Qualifications 10 years of full-time aerospace experience in aircraft, avionics, flight controls, propulsion/engine controls, and/or other aircraft systems. Familiarity with Agile and Continuous Delivery Method (CDM) processes. Military/Commercial Aircrew experience, Private Pilot License, or Flight Instructor certification. Capability to lead geographically diverse teams to support C-17 upgrades, improvements, and sustainment. Work EnvironmentThe position is hybrid, requiring on-site presence 2 days a week. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
