The Electrician provides technical support for a safe and efficient operation of the various types of equipment associated with a sand processing plant. This position will perform a wide variety of electrical and electrical maintenance and service work on mining equipment, machines and controls. This position will be expected to adhere to all safety regulations and practice safe operations at all times. Essential Functions Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of breakdown and correct the problem. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with all codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous to personnel or equipment. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and process meters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Explicit responsibility to exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions, unclear procedures, or unmitigated hazards are identified. Requirement to complete and follow a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Pre-Task Plan prior to performing electrical work. Requirement to verify zero energy state after lockout and prior to starting work (voltage testing, stored energy discharge). Requirement to verify arc-flash boundaries, incident energy levels, and PPE category prior to energized or justified troubleshooting work. Prohibition on energized electrical work unless justified, documented, and authorized per company policy and NFPA 70E. Responsibility to inspect electrical PPE, voltage-rated gloves, meters, and insulated tools before use and remove defective equipment from service. Maintain electrical panels, MCCs, and enclosures free of dust, debris, and unauthorized storage. Responsibility to ensure electrical panels, disconnects, breakers, and circuits are properly labeled, legible, and accurate. Verify proper grounding and bonding of electrical equipment following installation or repair. Requirement to coordinate with operations prior to energizing equipment or returning equipment to service after maintenance. Requirement to promptly report electrical incidents, near misses, and equipment failures through company reporting systems. Participate in electrical incident investigations and root-cause analysis as required. Participate in MSHA workplace examinations related to electrical systems and corrective actions. Maintain situational awareness and follow established procedures when performing electrical work around mobile equipment and energized conveyors. Maintain required electrical safety training certifications and notify supervision when training is expired or insufficient for assigned tasks. Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be able to perform industrial automation diagnostics, monitoring and installation of electrical systems requiring Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Drives, and Softstarts Ability to analyze data, calibrate instrumentation and compile a report on work completed Must have the ability to size circuits, bend conduit, and understand the basic fundamentals of single phase and three phase power distribution Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills required Sufficient education to operate relevant computer software and complete written documentation and records; or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics Must have basic computer skills Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations and use basic hand tools, measuring tools, labor tools Must have Basic maintenance skills sufficient to inspect equipment and complete minor repairs as required Previous sand plant or oilfield experience is preferred Must have effective communication skills; ability to speak and write Must have team player attitude with high-level of self-motivation requiring minimal supervision Must be willing to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays as nature of plant schedule may fluctuate Must be able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license Must be authorized to work in the US and be at least 18 years of age Job Benefits Iron Oak Energy offers a comprehensive and competitive compensation package for candidates when they join our team.
