We have under 100 employees and are unique in that we are a custom, full-service design, engineering, and manufacturing company that sees products through from concept to final build and installation onsite.Bench Dogs has employees responsible for everything from design, engineering, and project management to production, inventory, and installation. Our facility is often complimented for its cleanliness and organization and includes offices, a warehouse area for inventory and materials, loading docks for staging and shipping goods, a machining department, and a large shop floor area for assembly that includes a finishing area and lamination booth.Our Assembler II role is part of our production team and is responsible for fabricating and assembling wood products, sub-assemblies, retail displays, store fixtures, commercial casework, and related finished goods with minimal supervision. This position requires hands-on manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.At Bench Dogs, it is extremely important to us that our products are built to high quality standards and move through our production process safely and efficiently so they can be delivered and installed on time for our customers. Our Assemblers play a significant role in this process and help support our success by ensuring products are assembled accurately, safely, and efficiently.Primary Job Responsibilities Assemble Finished Products: Assemble finished product using sub-assemblies, parts, and fasteners according to drawings, production documents, and customer specification sheets. Complete assembly and packing activities using various hand tools, power tools, and fasteners. Fabrication & Production Support: Fabricate wood assemblies, wood sub-assemblies, displays, prototypes, jigs, and related components from raw materials using available production equipment. Interpret Drawings & Specifications: Read and understand mechanical drawings and production documentation using both English and metric measurements to ensure proper fit, function, and quality. Operate Equipment: Operate assigned production machinery and tools proficiently, including table saws, routers, drill presses, battery-powered drivers, chop saws, and other hand and power tools. Laminating & Trimming: Perform laminating and trimming operations proficiently and assist with related production tasks as needed. Quality Control & Inspection: Perform visual and simple mechanical inspections of products being produced, check quality at specified intervals, and identify and report deviations from mechanical drawings, defined quality standards, and established tolerances in a timely manner. Documentation: Complete Bench Dogs' required quality and production documentation accurately and consistently. Material Handling: Maintain accurate part counts and safely move materials to and from workstations and departments. Handle and stack materials in a manner that ensures safe and secure transport and storage. Independent Work & Workstation Setup: Work independently with minimal supervision, set up simple assembly stations without supervision, and maintain productivity in assigned work areas. Line Support & Team Collaboration: Participate in a team environment, remain self-motivated, monitor performance and quality in the assembly area, and provide assistance and basic training to help maintain production quality and efficiency. Production Standards: Work under tight tolerance fit-up situations, meet or exceed production goals, and help ensure equipment, materials, components, and work instructions are correct and available to support production uptime. Housekeeping & Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, follow safe work practices, use sound lifting techniques, and support general housekeeping standards without supervision. Training & Development: Attend outside training classes and seminars as needed to improve capabilities, quality, and understanding of applicable regulations. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications / Skills High school diploma or GED preferred 1–2 years of hands-on wood-related manufacturing or assembly experience required Ability to operate basic hand tools, power tools, and assigned production machinery Ability to handle more complex assemblies accurately and efficiently Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to set up a simple assembly station without supervision Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings using both English and metric measurements Ability to work under tight tolerance fit-up situations Ability to identify wood species and match laminates Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability Ability to work in a team environment while remaining self-motivated Ability to meet or exceed production goals Knowledge of general shop safety practices and safe material handling Familiarity with MSDS sheet terminology is preferred Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle tools, controls, and materials and to talk or hear Frequently required to reach with hands and arms Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds Must periodically lift up to 50 pounds Must occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance Must follow sound lifting techniques and ask for help when lifting over 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus ScheduleThis is a full-time, first-shift position. The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This role is based at our facility in Denver, PA.17517.
