Department: Finance Opening Date: 02/19/2026 Closing Date: 3/8/2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) Job Responsibilities The Accounts Receivable Account Clerk III is a senior clerk in the Accounting Division working under the guidance of the Director of Finance, the Chief Accountant, and the General Ledger Accountant II. This position supports the General Ledger Accountant II in reconciling accounts; providing audit support; handling small claims; and researching variable transaction issues. Responsibilities include issuing invoices; processing payments; maintaining records; and addressing residents questions or concerns about false alarms, ambulance billing, and miscellaneous City of Livonia billing. This position manages contracts related to accounts receivable; notifies departments of upcoming contract renewals; and organizes the city's yearly escheat project. Additionally, this position will serve as a backup for the Revenue Collections Account Clerk III in bank reconciliation for all City accounts, including researching and resolving banking issues as they arise. Examples of duties and responsibilities include: Coordinates, researches, and analyzes accounting transactions for accuracy and integrity of the financial records Reconciles, or assists in reconciling accounts, and prepares journal entries Maintains and updates record retention records Performs additional duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications and Application Process By the closing date of this announcement, an applicant must: Be a citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and Have a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate; and Meet one of the following: Have a minimum of five years of full-time paid bookkeeping or accounting-related experience, including experience; OR Have at least four semesters of coursework in Business, Finance, or related business school training; OR Have an equivalent combination of education and experience; and Have strong mathematic, grammar, and Microsoft Excel skills with attention to detail; and Be able to effectively communicate in oral and written form with the ability to maintain positive working relationships with associates, supervisors, officials, and the public.
