JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for delivering high quality instruction and student assessment in a Physical Therapist Assistant program; designing curriculum and maintaining accreditation status of the program; organizing and providing educational experiences designed to prepare individuals for appropriate credentialing and gainful employment as Physical Therapist Assistants; establishing an effective recruitment, retention, completion and placement plan. Participate in the college planning and quality improvement processes. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instruct lecture, laboratory, and clinical courses using contemporary teaching methods to meet the overall course objectives and program goals of the Physical Therapist Assistant program curriculum. Collaborate with faculty and staff in the IRSC programs in Health Science and with representatives of healthcare delivery systems. Evaluate student outcome achievement using multiple methodologies and maintain accurate student records. Develop new and update existing curriculum to meet the changing needs of the workplace. Support student success through advising, and assisting individual students Participate in recruitment, retention, completion, and placement activities. Lead the Physical Therapist Assistant Advisory Committee. Complete reports and maintain adherence to criteria for specialized accreditation Maintain equipment and supplies for the Physical Therapist Assistant program. Participate in recruitment, orientation, and mentor adjunct faculty Professional development related to personal and institutional needs. Participate in Department, Division, and general faculty meetings, applicable College committee activities, and other forms of College service. Adhere to college regulations and deadlines. Complete all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Physical Therapy or a Master's degree in a health related area and licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university); Terminal degree preferred (DPT, Ph.D., or Ed.D.) (degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university); Current Florida licensure as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant; Minimum of five (5) years credentialed professional experience in Physical Therapy; Teaching experience (academic, clinical, continuing education, in-service) with experience in a post-secondary accredited Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapy program is preferred; Knowledge of contemporary physical therapist assistant practice, service learning practices and quality assurance programs for patient care; Knowledge of contemporary curriculum content for the education of the physical therapist assistant and Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) Accreditation Standards for Physical Therapist Assistant ; Administrative experience in academic governance, fiscal management, human resource management preferred; Documented service on behalf of the physical therapy profession; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer applications and working knowledge of internet platform learning systems; All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
