Posting Details Position Information Job Title Maintenance Mechanic HVAC-Jackson County Campus Job Description GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all physical plant systems. Reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Physical Plant. Job Duties DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work under the direction of the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent of Physical Plant, and perform all duties as assigned. 2. Perform all duties assigned in a timely manner. 3. Accountable for all tools, equipment and supplies issued. 4. Perform all duties observing and utilizing proper equipment (safety glasses, gloves, caution tape/tags, etc.). 5. Submit work orders upon completion of tasks with any discrepancies noted. 6. Work with contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors on campus systems, etc. 7. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of hot water generators (gas and electric), all cooling systems and pneumatic/electrical control systems (including chilled water, NC and heat pump systems, etc.). 8. Read blueprints, schematics, and charts. 9. Troubleshoot all commercial HVAC breakdowns/failures and initiate repairs. 10. Perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment. 11. Maintain proper record keeping on HVAC maintenance and supplies. (Chillers up to 300 tons, Freon accountability, preventative maintenance records, work orders, etc.). 12. Perform work on low and high voltage systems. 13. Help resolve problems and perform general maintenance in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, welding, mechanics, painting, etc. as they occur. 14. Work with all other Maintenance personnel as assigned. 15. Work on weekends, holidays, evenings/nights and all other hours as assigned. 16. Be available for emergency repairs. 17. Must maintain a valid MS Driver's license. 18. Upgrade skill level and performance through employee development. This position requires climbing ladders, working on rooftops, working in confined spaces, and other physically demanding duties. This position requires physical mobility, manual dexterity, and ability to lift at least 70 pounds. The incumbent must understand that the College may change the working hours to better serve the students and other employees. Mandatory Qualifications(M1) Associate degree or diploma/certificate in maintenance related field and four years of maintenance experience OR high school diploma and four years of commercial or institutional maintenance experience. (M2) Maintenance experience in one or both of these areas: electrical, HVAC and refrigeration. M(3) Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. M(4) Ability to work overhead, from a ladder and in small spaces routinely, and lift a minimum of 70 lbs. Desirable Qualifications(D1) Associates degree in HVAC or electrical technology. (D2) Experience in carpentry or plumbing. (D3) Licensed in refrigeration, boiler operation, electrical, and/or plumbing or general contracting. (D4) Experience using a mechanical preventative maintenance program. (D5) Proficient In computer operations.
