The Onboarding & Growth team within Institutional Client Lifecycle oversees the complete onboarding and activation journey for all Coinbase Institutional products, from initial application and KYC/KYB processes to provisioning and activation across our product offerings. We play a crucial role at the entry point of Coinbase's institutional services, defining how promptly and smoothly leading institutions can access our products. You will tackle complex engineering challenges related to onboarding workflows, data validation, document review, and third-party integrations, increasingly leveraging Machine Learning and AI for automation. Your leadership will involve close collaboration with product and cross-functional teams to design and deliver effective onboarding and growth experiences, facilitating measurable customer activation for our business. Key Responsibilities: Lead engineering teams that develop essential systems for institutional products shaping the crypto landscape. Work alongside engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to transform our vision into a clear and actionable roadmap. Break down complex projects into manageable components and guide the iterative design and implementation process. Serve as a technical leader within the team, driving architectural decisions and cultivating a culture of excellence and high-quality work. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of complex, distributed systems at scale. Mentor your team members to positively impact the organization and support their professional growth. Partner with our talent team to identify and recruit outstanding engineers who align with Coinbase's core values and enhance our products. Take ownership of processes that enhance engineering quality and meet our service level agreements. Qualifications: At least 7 years of experience in software engineering. A minimum of 1 year of engineering management experience. Ability to balance long-term strategic objectives with short-term operational planning. Experience in design, delivery, and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale. Willingness to be hands-on when required, including writing/reviewing code, engaging in on-call responsibilities, leading incident management, and resolving bugs. A strong passion for building an open financial system that unites the world and drives your performance in this role. Preferred Qualifications: Experience navigating rapid growth in your organization (from 10 to hundreds of engineers). Familiarity with Blockchain technologies (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres. Experience in building financial, high-reliability, or security-focused systems. Crypto-forward experience, including engagement with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and interaction with dApps or blockchain-based services.
