Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator with experience in steel fabrication to prepare accurate project cost estimates using AutoCAD and 2D layouts. This Role Is Open To: Experienced Estimators in structural steel or metal fabrication OR skilled fabricators, welders, or fitters looking to transition into estimating The ideal candidate understands shop processes, material takeoffs, blueprint reading, and production timelines within a fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities: Review and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications Create and modify 2D layouts using AutoCAD Perform material takeoffs and labor cost calculations Prepare detailed cost estimates and bids for steel fabrication projects Evaluate fabrication time, materials, labor, and equipment requirements Work closely with project managers, engineers, and shop supervisors Assist in preparing proposals and supporting bid submissions Update estimates based on revisions and change orders Coordinate with shop personnel to verify scope and feasibility Qualifications: Experience as an Estimator in steel fabrication or structural steel preferred OR background in welding, fitting, fabrication, or shop operations Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting required) Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Knowledge of steel fabrication processes and materials Strong math skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Excellent communication and organizational skills Preferred Experience: Structural steel estimating Fabrication shop workflow knowledge Experience with takeoff or estimating software Understanding of welding, cutting, forming, and machining processes Work Environment: Office setting within a steel fabrication facility Occasional shop floor visits to review scope and production flow Team-based, collaborative environment Why Apply?
