Job DescriptionCategory Manager - Beer & Wine Our client in Central Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a Category Manager - Beer & Wine on a direct-hire basis. Category Manager - Beer and Wine Role: We are seeking an experienced Category Manager - Beer & Wine to drive sales growth, manage product assortments, and enhance profitability across our beverage categories. This role plays a key part in optimizing performance through data-driven decisions, strategic planning, and collaborative execution with suppliers and store teams. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on retail merchandising expertise to deliver the best possible selection, pricing, and shopping experience for our grocery customers. Oversee category performance, including assortment, pricing, sales, markdowns, margins, and inventory levels for beer and wine products. Analyze weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for category growth. Develop and implement category plans that achieve sales targets and profit goals. Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive costs, trade and advertising allowances, and new product opportunities. Manage product life cycles, including new product introductions, seasonal resets, and promotional strategies. Collaborate with distributors and brand partners to build an optimal product mix, reducing excess inventory and improving turnover. Partner with Marketing and Operations teams to execute compelling promotional campaigns and in-store merchandising programs. Identify private label opportunities to expand category reach and support brand differentiation. Lead regular category reviews to assess performance, customer preferences, and competitive positioning. Communicate effectively with store teams to ensure accurate implementation of category plans and product placements. Directly oversee merchandising employees assigned to the category, providing leadership, training, and performance management. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations. Category Manager - Beer and Wine Background Profile: Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in beer, wine, or liquor retail or wholesale management. Strong knowledge of beverage industry regulations and category management best practices. Proven ability to negotiate supplier terms and manage vendor relationships. Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills. Ability to balance strategy with attention to operational details and execution. Proficient in Microsoft Office and retail analytics tools. Features and Benefits: Performance incentive plan.
