Navy Divers operate in a wide range of environments, from tropical coral reefs to icy depths beneath icebergs, where precision is crucial. Your role may include: Performing wreck salvage operations and underwater repairs. Executing harbor and waterway clearance missions. Contributing to construction and demolition projects. Engaging in search and rescue operations. Participating in deep submergence and saturation dives, possibly living and working at extreme depths for extended periods. Launching and recovering SEAL-delivered vehicles from submarines. Pay and Benefits From day one, you will enjoy: Competitive salary. Potential enlistment bonuses. Comprehensive health insurance. Free housing. A retirement plan. Paid training opportunities. College credit for training completed. Education Opportunities As a member of the Naval Special Operations community, you will have unique opportunities to advance your education. Navy training covers everything from SCUBA basics to advanced underwater welding, demolition, and tactical procedures. To qualify, you must: Be between the ages of 18 and 34. Meet specific eyesight requirements: 20/40 in the best eye and 20/70 in the worst eye, correctable to 20/25 with no color blindness. Achieve the minimum Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) score: GS+MC+EI=170 or VE+MK+MC+CS=220 or VE+AR=103 MC=51. Pass a physical examination for divers. Be a U.S. citizen and eligible for security clearance. General qualifications may vary based on your service history. Work Environment Embrace the Navy Diver motto: We Dive the World Over. As part of this Special Operations force, you'll travel globally, working in diverse underwater settings—from murky depths requiring reliance on other senses to crystal-clear waters suited for underwater photography.
