PAY RANGE: $135,000 - 150,000 POSITION SUMMARY: The Security Manager will lead the Seattle Security team in developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive security programs that safeguard personnel, facilities, assets, and sensitive information. This role ensures full compliance with company policies as well as all applicable customer, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Serving as the primary point of contact for internal leadership and external customers, the Security Manager provides expert guidance on security standards, regulatory obligations, and risk mitigation strategies. The position is responsible for planning and executing security initiatives, maintaining compliance documentation, supporting audits and inspections, and fostering a culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.) Provides leadership and direction to the Seattle Security team, including hiring, training, cross-training, coaching, performance evaluation, discipline, and personnel action recommendations in accordance with company policies. Oversee 24/7 security operations at the Harbor Island shipyard, including associated offsite locations. Provides additional security support for Fabrication projects and other activities at Harbor Island as requested. Leads the planning, development, and execution of security activities for all Ship Repair projects and operations. Ensures implementation and enforcement of corporate, project/program, and client security policies, rules, and regulations in alignment with company and Project/Program Manager intent. Interprets Department of Defense (DoD) policies and communicates customer-driven security directives to program personnel. Develops and oversees implementation of Ship Repair project-specific security programs. Serves as a security program advocate, collaborating with senior managers and directors to achieve program objectives; identifies deficiencies and develops and implements corrective actions. Manages contracted security service providers, including direct oversight of badging operations, access control systems, visitor management processes, guard force deployment, post orders, and daily security activities. Ensures contract requirements, performance standards, and service level agreements are consistently met. Conducts regular performance reviews of contracted security service providers, audits post compliance, validates training and certification requirements, approves staffing plans and schedules, reviews invoices for accuracy, and addresses performance deficiencies through corrective action plans as needed. Coordinates closely with the provider’s site supervisors to ensure seamless support of facility operations, project-specific security requirements, emergency response protocols, and after-hours coverage. Oversee security operations and equipment requirements for Harbor Island, including support for annual operating budget development and the maintenance and operation of security systems and equipment. Conducts regular drills and audits to ensure security standards and policies are consistently met and maintained. Maintains working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement and other government agencies; escalates or manages security issues and emergency situations as appropriate. Monitors security conditions and known or suspected threats; analyzes internal and external data sources and recommends appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Supports incident response planning and leads or assists with investigations of security incidents, including coordination of related disciplinary or legal actions as necessary. Leads facility threat management processes and coordinates response efforts with Operations, Safety, Human Resources, and other departments as needed. Works effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Performs and supports additional security-related duties as assigned. JOB SCOPE: This position operates within the general framework of the Vigor Marine Ship Repair business unit and requires a highly self-motivated professional capable of working independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision. The Security Manager must demonstrate sound judgment and confidence in making critical security decisions related to high-value contracts. This role requires the ability to develop and implement effective security procedures to prevent unauthorized access to company facilities, assets, and sensitive information. Key responsibilities include conducting security self-inspections, applying risk mitigation methodologies, supporting customer assessments and audits, and developing and executing security activities that ensure full compliance with company policies as well as applicable customer and government requirements for the protection of personnel and information. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises the Seattle Security team, including Vigor employees, contracted security personnel who support facility and project physical security operations. Additional direct reports may be assigned in the future based on business needs. INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: This position collaborates closely with directors, managers, and supervisors across multiple levels within the business unit and maintains extensive interaction beyond the immediate team. The role represents the Company in both formal and informal settings with customers, government agencies, law enforcement organizations, vendors, and subcontractors. Strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships are essential. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, multitask, prioritize assignments, and oversee all aspects of a comprehensive security program, including personnel, physical, and information security. Knowledge of proper handling requirements for Sensitive Security Information (SSI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), export-controlled information, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and DoD controlled materials and equipment. Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-72, Physical Security at a Private Contractor Facility. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications, Lenel OnGuard systems, and Milestone XProtect. Excellent written communication, report writing, and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, employees, management, and security personnel. Working knowledge of U.S. Government contracting requirements, including FAR and DFARS clauses. Experience establishing, developing, and maintaining complex internal and external customer relationships, including direct engagement with Defense Contracting Officers. Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines, and to respond effectively to short-notice, high-priority, time-sensitive projects. Ability to plan, direct, and organize work within a diverse department, and to coordinate effectively with other departments to ensure operational efficiency. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 10 years' experience of on the job security management, preferably in a defense industrial base entity, government or other related security field. Degree preferred but not required.
