Company: Allegheny Health Network Job Description: GENERAL OVERVIEW: As an MRI Technologist, you will play a crucial role in performing essential MRI imaging procedures with a high level of skill and independence. You will be responsible for delivering quality imaging services while ensuring patient safety and comfort. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Expertly position patients and conduct MRI imaging procedures. You will analyze results and proactively address any image quality issues by adjusting patient positioning or repeating procedures as necessary. Responsible for entering and reporting scan results. (50%) Review patient history and physician’s orders carefully. You will educate patients about the MRI procedure, equipment, and expectations to ensure full understanding and cooperation. (25%) Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications as ordered, monitoring patient conditions continually and responding appropriately to any changes. (15%) Set up equipment and supplies, selecting the right exposure factors and imaging parameters while adhering to safety standards. You will also perform quality control procedures and troubleshoot equipment issues as needed. (10%) Contribute to other duties as assigned to support departmental operations. Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree; or Certification from a technical school; or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience. Current Radiography Certification (R), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (N), Radiation Therapy Certification (RT), or MRI Certification (MR) through ARRT or equivalent certifications. MRI Certification through ARRT is required within 18 months of hire unless you hold ARMRIT certification. Those in an MRI role before July 1, 2022, are exempt if they lack certification; but must maintain active certifications if already certified. Staff hired or transferred into MRI roles after July 1, 2022, must keep certifications up to date. Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
