Position Overview: The Industrial Equipment Technician works 'hand-on' to oversee repair and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, computerized, and security systems/components found on company property. Meet target volumes of feedstock recovery & waste recycling/disposal while maintaining the facility and effectively communicating status and support needs to the management team. Main Responsibilities: Coordinate with the Plant Manager and all Pacific Biodiesel personnel regarding assigned repair and maintenance tasks in a manner that is safe, productive, and as undisruptive as possible, while monitoring the effectiveness of the facility and anticipate actions that are necessary to maintain processing. Monitor and maintain the facility and all its systems to meet quality standards and volume goals. Continually communicate needs, expenses, anticipated production disruptions, etc., to plant manager. Document maintenance work orders; weekly reports of maintenance operations per the plant manager's request. Maintain parts inventory to limit and/or eliminate production downtime. Maintain facilities & equipment related reports and spreadsheets as requested. Establish/maintain productive relationships with utilities vendors, parts vendors, and service vendors. Perform plant operations responsibilities when needed. Perform general housekeeping of the equipment and work areas and general labor duties. Perform plumbing, electrical, welding, or miscellaneous modifications and/or repairs. Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues; perform repairs and adjustments based on root-cause analysis. Key Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Professional training in process safety and equipment repair/maintenance a plus. Tools: Owns basic hand tools preferred. Owns power tools preferred. Owns mechanical and electrical diagnostic equipment preferred. Repairs and maintains company tools & property to high standards. Experience and Competencies:Mechanical ability to repair and/or maintain and/or rebuild equipment. General understanding of processing equipment (valves, pipes, pumps, boiler, etc.) Technical electrical and mechanical skills capable of assessing PLC controls. Proficiency with controlling automated processes with an HMI. Proficiency of a computerized maintenance management system like UpKeep and Samsara Proficiency with multimeters and other electrical diagnostic equipment. Proficiency with hand tools, including, but not limited to, sockets, ratchets, bits, wrenches, specialty service tools, pullers, & presses. 480v, 208v, & 120v Electrical experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications:Valid driver's license is preferred. OSHA, HazMat certifications (preferred). Boiler Maintenance certification (preferred). Physical Demands: The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work for long periods outdoors in ambient temperature and precipitation extremes typical of Hawaii climate. Ability to talk and hear frequently as job involves daily oral communication. Ability to sit, stand, twist, reach, walk, push, pull, work in splayed positions, use of upper and lower extremities to perform maintenance and repair functions, lift and carry 60 pounds +- of materials, pumps, heat exchangers and tools, and climb stairs and ladders. Ability to wear a respirator and obtain respirator certification in accordance with safety requirements. Ability to wear protective equipment on the head, face, body, hands, and feet, including a welding helmet, respirator, fall protection, or anything else in accordance with safety requirements. Ability to work at varying noise levels and to wear hearing protection as required. Ability to travel by personal vehicle, perform periodic errands, and travel by airplane to off-site interisland and mainland U.S. locations.
