Summary This a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position. This is a Permanent WG-5801-10 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1194000 and is part of the MO Field Maintenance Shop 4. This is a bargaining position. Duties Help Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non- automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Repairs a variety of complex major systems to include engines, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety of intricate fuel injection systems. Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory check. Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Irregular and/or overtime compensatory hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment. This is a dual-status T32 position and requires military membership. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination. Placement or baseline physical are required for newly hired or appointed Wage Grade personnel who may be potentially exposed to health hazards in the work environment. Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion). Maximum Military Grade - CW5 (W-5) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience which demonstrates your experience in diagnosing, repairing, overhauling and modifying a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles and equipment. The specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability to repair or overhaul major components such as diesel, multi-fuel or gasoline engines, turbine engines, automatic and manual transmissions, drive line assemblies, electrical and electronic systems and accessories, fuel injection systems, and emission control systems. Experience that demonstrates your ability to utilize, interpret and apply parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, diagnostic computer information and schematics. Education This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
