With claims complexity on the rise, strong leadership, financial discipline, and efficient execution are imperative. As the Director of Claims Management, you will lead senior operations across a range of claim types, oversee intricate and high-risk claims, and mentor other claims team members. You will collaborate closely with Legal, Risk, and executive leadership to enhance outcomes, manage costs, and maintain uniform and compliant claims processing throughout the organization. What You'll Do Direct and manage claims across multiple risk areas, including cargo liability, workers' compensation, and subrogation. Oversee financial exposures related to claims, focusing on reserves, settlement authority, recovery strategies, and long-term cost reduction. Act as the primary contact for third-party administrators and external counsel, ensuring effective reserving practices, litigation strategies, financial outcomes, and service-level adherence. Build and inspire a high-performing claims team, fostering accountability and top-tier execution. Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations and claims management best practices. Work collaboratively with Legal, Safety, Operations, Finance, and HR to minimize risks and enhance claims handling outcomes. Promote operational excellence, data-driven decision-making, and reporting discipline within the claims function. Required Qualifications Experience leading multi-line claims operations. Proven track record of driving performance, managing financial outcomes, and maintaining reserve discipline within claims settings. History of managing significant claims-related financial exposure, emphasizing reserve adequacy and cost mitigation. Demonstrated leadership skills across various levels of management and professional staff. Willingness to work onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience reflecting success in the field. Experience in transportation or claims-heavy sectors like insurance, third-party administration, construction, retail, or hospitality.
