We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented COBOL Developer to join our IT team and support the maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of our core insurance systems. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and performance of our legacy applications that handle policy administration, claims processing, and financial transactions. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL programs in a mainframe environment. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand system requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Perform code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables. Support batch and real-time processing systems using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. Participate in system upgrades, data migrations, and integration projects with modern platforms. Document program logic, workflows, and system interfaces. Provide production support and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). 6+ years of experience in COBOL development within a mainframe environment. Proficiency in JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM. Experience with insurance systems (policy, claims, billing) is highly preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred Skills Experience with modernization tools or strategies (e.g., Micro Focus COBOL, API integration). Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall development methodologies. Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) is a plus.
