Your Role We are seeking a passionate Lead Engineer to guide the next generation of our core database engine's technical vision and architecture. In this essential role, you will drive innovation, shape software technology decisions, and ensure our platform can dynamically scale to meet evolving product demands. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in databases and query engines optimized for cloud environments, as well as a deep understanding of the current market landscape, including the strengths and weaknesses of cloud database providers. Familiarity with emerging cloud capabilities and the application of AI to enhance performance will be highly beneficial. Key Responsibilities Define and refine the architectural framework for a scalable and elastic cloud database. Develop systems that facilitate autoscaling and adaptive cost management. Stay informed about cloud provider offerings (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) and related industry tools, being aware of their performance characteristics, limitations, and future directions. Evaluate emerging technologies and open-source solutions to uncover opportunities that align with our requirements. Influence long-term engineering strategies by collaborating with product, operations, and security teams to align technical decisions with business objectives. Your Team You will lead a team of senior technical architects to drive technical vision and execution. Your Qualifications Over 15 years of experience in database internals, query optimization, and execution. At least 10 years of expertise in large-scale distributed systems operating in the cloud. A proven track record of architecting high-scale and elastic systems. Exceptional communication and teamwork skills. What You'll Bring Experience utilizing AI for database optimization. Contributions to open-source cloud infrastructure projects. Prior experience as a Distinguished Engineer or Principal Engineer in a database or cloud-native organization. Familiarity with Teradata, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar systems. Salary Range: 239500.0000 - 299300.0000 - 359200.0000 Annually The starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on geographic location, internal equity, and experience.
