As the Director of Talent Development, you will lead the development and execution of comprehensive learning and talent management strategies that enhance leadership skills, strengthen our talent pipeline, and support our operational excellence. You will collaborate with Operations, Store Support Office leadership, and the Director of Training, ensuring that our development programs align with business goals and drive measurable outcomes while reinforcing Sprouts' values and mission. This role requires a hands-on approach to designing, building, and continuously refining programs and tools that facilitate leader and team growth. This is an on-site position located in Phoenix, AZ. Essential Functions Learning Program Design & Leadership Lead the full Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process, integrating robust design thinking and facilitation. Create modern, blended learning experiences at scale, including eLearning, microlearning, and facilitator-led training, grounded in adult learning theory. Design and maintain role-based learning pathways and cohort programs, incorporating leadership assessments and personalized development journeys. Drive innovation by implementing tech-enabled, personalized, and adaptive learning, including AI tools for content creation. Provide practical performance support tools that encourage real application and behavioral change. Establish and monitor success metrics to evaluate learning effectiveness and continuously improve solutions. Talent & Succession Planning Enhance tools and processes for quarterly talent reviews and succession planning to foster meaningful development conversations. Implement and maintain performance management processes focused on coaching, growth, and development. Enable leaders to create impactful Individual Development Plans by providing essential tools and training. Analyze succession health and internal mobility to derive insights and inform action. Collaborate across HR and business functions to bridge talent gaps and ensure alignment with Sprouts' values. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership Build and lead a diverse team of instructional designers and program managers, setting clear expectations and priorities. Act as a hands-on design leader, coaching and fostering growth in your team through modeling effective design and problem-solving practices. Work closely with Operations, HR, and Store Support leaders to co-develop relevant and practical solutions. Manage external partnerships with content and learning technology providers to maximize impact and ensure ROI. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates and adapting plans as business needs evolve. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Over 10 years of progressive experience in Talent Development, Learning & Development, or Organizational Development, including significant leadership roles. Proven expertise in instructional design and organizational development, with practical design experience. Successful track record of developing learning solutions for multi-unit and field-based environments; experience in retail is highly preferred. Exceptional ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution in a fast-paced setting. Data-driven and analytical mindset combined with strong creative and design skills. Passion for nurturing leaders and teams within a purpose-driven organization. Familiarity with tools such as Axonify, Arist, Articulate, and Workday HCM/Talent is a plus.
