Office Clerk - Building Department The Charter Township of Shelby is accepting internal applications for the position of Office Clerk in the Building Department. Responsibilities include performing clerical work using knowledge of departmental practices and procedures and skillful use of office technology to compile, compute and record information; maintain necessary confidentiality; set up and maintain accurate files; perform customer service; exercise judgment within established departmental guidelines and under general supervision. Employment Status: Full-time or Part-time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Experience Required: 1-3 years of experience Minimum Education Requirements: Includes graduation from an accredited High School or GED equivalent with three years of full-time experience, or a minimum of 6240 hours as a Part-Time Employee within a 6 year time frame in general office administration, typing, and record keeping OR an Associate's Degree/62 credit hours of coursework toward a College Degree with 1 year full-time experience, or a minimum of 2080 hours as a Part-Time Employee within a 5 year time frame in general office administration, typing, and record keeping. Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or all of the following essential duties: Type, format, proofread, and edit correspondence and other documents. May issue and process licenses and certificates, vouchers and applications. Sort, tabulate, and summarizes various statistical reports and other data. Establish, maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems, either manually or using a computer. Review the accuracy and completeness of records and other documents by comparison with original sources. Manage multiple calendars, schedule and promote meetings, and create and post agendas. Order, distribute, and store office supplies. Operate office technology, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers. Open, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence, including faxes and email. Communicate with residents, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, or explain information, and address complaints using verbal, written and technological communication resources. May collect fees and other monies. Runs departmental errands. May assist in invoice data entry and payroll hour's entry for the department. Perform related work as required.
