This position plays a critical role in elevating the venue's market position and ensuring an elite fan experience by leveraging personal and professional networks to attract and secure high-quality sports, music, comedy, and other live entertainment acts. This individual will also oversee all operational aspects of event execution across the arena and associated venues, ensuring excellence in guest experience, operational efficiency, and partner satisfaction. The SVP will collaborate closely with internal teams and external promoters, agents, and organizations to build a robust event calendar that maximizes venue utilization and revenue. Primary Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to: Proactively source, negotiate, and secure top-tier sports and entertainment bookings using an established network of industry contacts. Develop and execute a comprehensive entertainment strategy aligned with brand, audience demand, and financial targets. Oversee the full lifecycle of event execution, including planning, budgeting, production, and post-event analysis. Lead and develop a high-performing operations team responsible for all venue and event logistics, including front-of-house, back-of-house, guest services, and production. Maintain strong relationships with booking agents, sports leagues, artists, and promoters to keep the venue top-of-mind for routing decisions. Ensure operational excellence, safety, and compliance across all events and venues. Collaborate with marketing, sponsorship, and F&B teams to deliver seamless guest experience and maximize revenue streams. Monitor industry trends and competitor programming to keep offerings fresh and competitive. Responsible for the comprehensive planning, strategy, research, booking and financial preparation, suitability and management of all Mohegan sports and entertainment events & venues Oversee all aspects of arena operations, including facility maintenance, security, guest experience, and event production for sports and concerts. Develop and execute business strategies to maximize revenue streams, including sponsorships, premium seating, and concessions. Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of live events, coordinating with promoters, league officials, and internal teams. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking for the venue to ensure profitability and cost-effective operations. Act as lead on relationships with contracted promoters and ticketing agencies. Research all potential sports and entertainment opportunities in the potential new markets for Mohegan Develop marketing and public relations platforms for Sports and Entertainment events Develop contracts with various organizations, including attorneys, agents, and entertainment entities Oversee television and media opportunities associated with various events, including production of the same if applicable Interfaces with internal departments to ensure that event programs are designed and implemented to maximize exposure, execution and profitability Lead, mentor, and motivate large, diverse teams across operations, box office, marketing, and guest services. Cultivate relationships with key partners, tenants (e.g., sports teams), and sponsors to enhance the brand and fan experience. Maintain effective communication with outside entities in the sports and entertainment fields to promote company strategies and event bookings Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure all pertinent information regarding events is obtained, complied with, and distributed to the proper entities Minimum Education and Qualifications: Bachelors' Degree in a related field Seven years of executive level experience focusing on the sports and/or entertainment fields, including familiarity with budgets and budgetary projections Experience working in a multipurpose facility and a working understanding of entertainment, special events and sports production Thorough understanding of marketing, public relations, special events, entertainment and sports and the important personnel in each Experience in booking, promoting, and building relationships with international talent, entertainment venues, and executives in the entertainment industry Excellent negotiating skills in both sports and entertainment environments Creativity in managing and promoting the marketing and effective implementation of Sports and Entertainment events Knowledge of television production and how to best facilitate its use Ability to review and analyze projects and events Firm understanding of human resources Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent leadership, presentation and delivery skills Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications including Word, Excel and Outlook In lieu of a degree and previously mentioned experience fifteen years of executive level experience focusing on the sports and/or entertainment fields, including familiarity with budgets and budgetary projections Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position: Knowledge of Mohegan corporate and department policies and procedures Knowledge of Mohegan budget planning and analysis process Effective utilization of Mohegan evaluation programs Knowledge of Mohegan budget planning and analysis process Excellent negotiating skills in both sports and entertainment environments Creativity in managing and promoting the marketing and effective implementation of Sports and Entertainment events Thorough understanding of budgets in relation to all facets of events, especially production and fees Ability to effectively bring in events to the facility to maximize attendance in adherence to budgetary plan Ability to deal with the press regarding interviews, presentations, etc. Thorough understanding of the Mohegan Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) as it relates to employment and contracting.
