Director of Community Health Salary - $114,525.00 - $152,700.00 Annually Location 111 N. County Farm Road- Wheaton, IL We are excited to announce a senior leadership role! We have an opening for a Director of Community Health. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for planning and leading community health activities and public health functions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead a diverse set of cross-functional teams while also engaging in high-profile interactions with community partners, healthcare providers, and other local leaders. You must have the ability to make independent decisions regarding the utilization of current resources, recommendations for additional resources, and the interpretation and application of agency policies. You will be responsible for providing management directions to subordinate managers and supervisors. This position reports to and receives administrative direction from our Executive Director. Responsibilities Provides leadership and direction for assigned management team working in a variety of foundational community and public health programs including, but not limited to, disease surveillance and epidemiology, community-based initiatives including community health assessments and coalition building, public health emergency response, and environmental health. Collaborate with other senior leaders to advance the Health Department’s mission and priorities. Collaborate with program staff to develop operational priorities and goals. Initiates methods to improve quality and efficiency within the service unit. Works with other members of the Health Department’s leadership team to resolve issues and implement plans of action. Pursues and develops grant proposals for outside funding. Oversees allocation of funds and monitors service unit budgets, including associated grant funds. Interviews, hires and trains assigned staff. Identifies and resolves employee relations and performance issues. Provides appropriate leadership and direction and promotes positive morale, creativity and teamwork among staff. Evaluates employee performance and sets clear goals and expectations. Keeps up to date on funding and legislative changes that impact the department. Completes required training programs and keeps up to date on Health Department operational policies and procedures. Demonstrates independent judgment and discretion in making position related decisions. Serves in assigned role within Health Department Incident Command when called upon; maintains 24/7 availability to respond to emergencies, drills and other related activities. Requirements Completion of a Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, or a related field, and eight years of progressively responsible experience in public health, including at least five years in a management or senior leadership level position; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Supplemental Information Comprehensive knowledge of community-based health programs and public health practice; comprehensive knowledge of theory and practices of local public health administration, including evaluation and assessment, policy development and quality assurance; comprehensive knowledge of agency policies and procedures and related regulations; comprehensive knowledge of operations; considerable knowledge of budget planning and preparation; considerable knowledge of legislative processes and procedures.
