The NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs / Veterans Affairs Division, in accordance with Chapter 143, General Statues of North Carolina - assists Veterans, their families, and their dependents in obtaining or maintaining privileges, rights, and benefits to which they are entitled under Federal State or Local laws. Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Administrative Specialist I - NC 08 $39,244.00-$68,679.00 The NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is tasked with 23 specific functions that involve working with federal, state, local, regional and industry partners to support activities at North Carolina military installations and improve economic outcomes and the quality of life for our military and veteran communities. The Department has two distinct divisions of Veterans Affairs and Military Affairs. In accordance with Chapter 143, General Statues of North Carolina, the Veterans Affairs Division will assist Veterans, their families and their dependents in obtaining or maintaining privileges, rights and benefits to which they are entitled under Federal State or Local laws. The Military Affairs Division will liaison between the federal, state, local, regional and industry partners and the various military communities in NC. The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking applicants for an Administrative Specialist I position for our Veterans Service Center office located in Winston Salem, North Carolina (Forsyth County). The function of Veterans Affairs is to assist veterans and their families in the presentation, processing, proof and establishment of claims, privileges, rights and benefits as they may be entitled to under Federal, State or Local. The Veterans Affairs Division also cooperates with the various governmental units and veteran's organizations in seeking to service veterans. Primary purpose of the position This position provides office support for the Veterans Service Center. The position is responsible for answering a multi-line telephone system, greeting visitors and clients, and providing benefits information of a routine nature or making appropriate referral for assistance. The NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs uses the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data retention phone system which Veterans Service Technicians use to collect and store data on Veterans claims. The work is performed on a personal computer in a Windows environment using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) software, in a Local Area Network (LAN) configuration. Documented experience handling sensitive and/or confidential information appropriately. Documented experience using Microsoft Office products. (Example: Word, Excel and Outlook) Documented experience of office methods, procedures, establishing and maintain a filing system, and ability to use a variety of office machines. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
