Throughout the program, you will gain 280 hours of paid hands-on experience combined with classroom education, equipping you for success in Pickup & Delivery and Line Haul operations. You will learn essential skills such as safe driving techniques, freight handling, and trailer operations in a team environment that values safety and career advancement. This is more than just a job; it's your pathway to a rewarding career. Successful completion of our Driver Training Program will certify you to operate Old Dominion tractors and trailers. Responsibilities Safely operate vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations regarding driving hours, inspections, and hazardous material transportation. Load and unload freight using motorized forklifts, pallet jacks, or manually, adhering to DOT guidelines. Interpret shipping labels and complete necessary forms for freight movement. Hand load, rewrap, or stack freight as required. Ensure quality loading of all trailers. Secure freight within trailers using proper tools and materials (e.g., pallets, straps, ropes). Maintain regular communication with service center personnel in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience: Knowledge of safe vehicle operation within DOT regulations. Experience with loading and unloading freight following state and federal compliance. Able to read and interpret shipping labels and complete required freight movement documents. Ability to load and secure freight as needed.
