Leads the coordination of the annual budget process with many constituents including the University Budget Committee and budget managers. Ensures the university's working capital is managed to provide for proper cash flow and return on cash balances. Minimum Required Education and Experience A bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field Preferred Education and Experience A MA or MBA degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Other preferred credentials include holding a CPA license. Higher Education experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams is required. Strong analytical and organization skills. Must have the ability to analyze information and form conclusions. Ability to manage multiple priorities Develop collaborative relationships across the university Job DutiesBudget Process for Queens Location: Coordinate process for budget manager requests for operations, positions and capital Maintains the university budget model Attends University Budget Committee meetings and provides budget analysis to the Committee. Assists the AVP and VP for Finance and Administration with tuition, FFTE and discount rate analysis. Maintains capital planning spreadsheet for forecasting capital projects and funding Participates in monthly capital planning meetings with University Architect, AVP and VP for Finance and Administration. Forecasting and scenario analysis: Maintains the university forecasting tool Develops financial scenarios to assist with projecting capital project financing Determines debt capacity and impact on debt service coverage ratio Prepares analysis of projected Year End Balance results. Works with Elon university external financial advisor to develop financing scenarios. Preparation of Presentations: Prepares presentations for Board of Trustees, and related Committees Develops presentations for the university budget forums Develops ad hoc analysis and presentations for Vice President for Finance and Administration. Oversight of Management of university working capital: Monitor cash balances to support operations Provide cash forecasting to external funds manager for cash flow needs Supervises reconciliation of university bank accounts Maintains bank relationships and updates required information as needed Maintains internal control policies over cash management. Oversight of Endowment Reporting: Ensure accurate financial reporting of the university's endowment Review endowment reconciliations and journal entries Oversee the NACUBO endowment survey. Oversight of Year End Balance Analysis: Prepare analysis of university budget surplus Work with constituents across campus for analysis of spending Analyze trends and project year end surplus. Other responsibilities: Provides support to debt financing for capital projects Oversight and support to annual financial audit including financial statement and footnote review. Supports technology initiatives Mentor and provide professional development to staff. Oversee the Controllership for Queens Location The controller and team are responsible for accounting, audits, reporting, payroll, AP/AR closing, and cash management functions.
