Job Title: Inpatient Pharmacist – Hospital Setting Location - Independence, Missouri Shift: Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Schedule: Day shift with rotating weekend coverage Contract Length: 13 Weeks Job Overview We are seeking a licensed Inpatient Pharmacist to join a hospital pharmacy team supporting a 285-bed acute care hospital. The pharmacist will play a critical role in ensuring safe and effective medication therapy while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals across the facility. This position offers the opportunity to work within a well-supported pharmacy department consisting of approximately 50 team members, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Key Responsibilities Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and safety Provide clinical dosing recommendations including: Vancomycin Aminoglycosides Anticoagulants Perform medication verification and first-dose review Conduct pain management consultations as needed Oversee and verify sterile IV compounding performed by pharmacy technicians Monitor and restock automated medication dispensing systems Review and maintain emergency medication boxes Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care Ensure compliance with hospital medication safety protocols Systems & Equipment Pharmacy staff utilize advanced technology and systems including: DoseEdge sterile compounding verification system Pyxis automated medication dispensing cabinets PakEdge packaging system Meditech electronic medical record (EMR) Requirements Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree from an accredited pharmacy school Active pharmacist license (or eligibility) Hospital or inpatient pharmacy experience preferred Strong clinical knowledge of medication dosing and pharmacotherapy Apply now!
