Job Description Database Administration & Operations: Join our team as a Senior Database Administration Manager responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining PostgreSQL and Oracle databases in development, testing, staging, and production environments. Manage database instances, schemas, users, and storage structures to ensure maximum performance and reliability. Monitor and optimize database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement intelligent solutions to enhance throughput and response times. High Availability, Backup & Recovery: Design and oversee high availability and disaster recovery strategies, including replication, clustering, Data Guard, streaming replication, and failover systems. Implement and manage effective backup, recovery, and retention policies utilizing tools such as RMAN (Oracle) and pgBackRest or similar solutions (PostgreSQL). Conduct regular disaster recovery tests and meticulously document all procedures. Security & Compliance: Establish robust database security protocols, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with both organizational policies and regulatory standards. Apply critical patches, perform vulnerability assessments, and assist during audits by providing necessary database documentation and evidence. Development & Optimization: Collaborate with developers and architects to design effective database schemas, queries, indexes, and stored procedures that promote efficiency. Engage in code reviews, performance tuning, and query optimization to significantly enhance application performance. Automate administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) as well as infrastructure-as-code technologies. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Establish and maintain comprehensive database monitoring and alerting systems to proactively address potential issues. Deliver advanced troubleshooting and root cause analyses for database incidents, including performance degradation and outages. Be part of our 24/7 on-call support team and participate in scheduled maintenance activities. Responsibilities Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of hands-on experience as a production DBA in large-scale PostgreSQL and Oracle environments. Extensive experience with database installation, configuration, patching, backup/recovery, and performance tuning. Expert skill in replication, clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions. Proficient in SQL and PL/pgSQL/PL/SQL, with strong aptitude for query optimization and indexing strategies. Familiarity with database monitoring and automation tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager). Strong scripting capabilities (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and operational tasks. COMPTIA Security + CE or equivalent certification. Possess a US DoD TS/SCI security clearance. Preferred: Experience with database migrations, cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure Database, Oracle Cloud), or hybrid environments. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform). Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or PostgreSQL Professional Certification are highly favorable. Soft Skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and documentation capabilities, effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
