We are proud to have a team of professionals with diverse educational backgrounds.Across our network:28 team members have earned or are pursuing Bachelor's degrees 15 have earned or are in the process of completing Graduate degrees 22 have completed or are working toward Doctorate or Professional degrees This depth of knowledge, paired with a strong understanding of clinical operations, means that as a doctor, you'll be backed by a team that's motivated, capable, and aligned with your commitment to patient-centered care.Join Columbia Dental and experience what it means to practice with purpose, surrounded by excellence, and supported at every level.About the Position:General Duties & Responsibilities are not limited to the following: Meet with patients and discuss their dental health habits, problems, and concernsUse professional tools and equipment to examine and treat patients' teeth, gums, and oral tissueDiagnose dental illnesses or infectionsPrescribe medications for dental problems (painkillers, antibiotics)Develop treatment plans to improve patients' oral health and habitsInstruct patients on proper oral careRefer patients to specialists if neededProvides general dentistry professional services to children, adults, and elderly patients at locations assigned by COLUMBIA DENTAL and in accordance with clinical standards and protocols adopted by COLUMBIA DENTAL and/or in compliance with Connecticut statutes and Federal regulations. a. Reviews medical history at every visit. b. Examines and assesses patient. Charts all pathologic conditions and reports these to the patient. c. Holds informed consent discussion with patient, documents same in the record, and assures appropriate forms are signed prior to initiating treatment. d. Documents all treatment provided in accordance with COLUMBIA DENTAL policy and procedures and signs the patient record.Assists in monitoring and directing clinical performance of dental hygienists, department support staff, and students or residents.Supervises taking of x-rays and monitors quality/procedure for x-rays and other equipment operation and procedures by assistants and recommends improvements when needed.Assists with in-service training or orientation and continuing education for dental staff.Practices in accord with OSHA guidelines and standards and complies with HIPAA regulations regarding confidentiality of patient information.Maintains all required certification and licensing Education & Experience: Doctoral degree in Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD)A state license to practice dental medicineMinimum 5 years of experienceIn-depth understanding of oral hygiene and dental proceduresWorking experience in diagnosing illnesses and treating themAbility to communicate with patients about their oral health and problemsCompassion and patienceAttention to detailAbility to work under pressure Physical Demands: Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and also the ability to stand for prolonged periods throughout the day/work hours when neededManual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write/typeMust be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionallyReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
