Job Purpose: - As a Deli Clerk at Hugo's Family Marketplace, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service while preparing and serving a variety of deli products. Your primary focus will be on maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness, ensuring that all deli operations run smoothly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and serve deli products to customers, ensuring high-quality and appealing presentation. - Slice, weigh, and package deli items accurately according to customer preferences and store standards. - Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and answer any questions they may have. - Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area, adhering to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. - Label products clearly and accurately to ensure proper identification and pricing. - Rotate stock regularly to maintain freshness and minimize waste. - Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet customer needs and store demands. - Operate deli equipment, including slicers and scales, safely and effectively. - Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless and pleasant shopping experience for customers. - Uphold standards of customer service, demonstrating professionalism and reliability in all interactions. Required Education: - High school diploma or GED Preferred Education: - Some coursework or training in food service or culinary basics (optional) - Little or no formal education with on-the-job training provided Required Experience: - No prior deli or food service experience required - Willingness to learn food safety, equipment use, and store procedures Preferred Experience: - 1-2 years of experience in a deli, grocery, restaurant, or food service setting - Experience using slicers, scales, or food prep equipment - Customer service or retail experience - Experience following food safety and sanitation guidelines Required Skills and Abilities: - Customer service and communication skills - Food preparation and safe food handling abilities - Attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to operate deli equipment (slicers, scales) - Time management skills - Knowledge of sanitation and cleanliness standards - Teamwork and reliability - Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks
