Payroll Specialist Greater Waterbury, CT Area Compensation: $55,000 – $70,000 Overview A healthcare organization in the Greater Waterbury area is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Associate to support payroll operations and HR systems. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting system maintenance, compliance, and employee inquiries. Key Responsibilities Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of employee payroll processing Maintain and support HR/Payroll information systems; assist with system updates and enhancements Partner with internal IT teams and external vendors to support system functionality (including payroll and HRIS platforms) Execute pre- and post-payroll processes, identifying and resolving discrepancies as they arise Ensure all mandated payroll filings are completed accurately and on time Prepare biweekly check requests related to invoices and payroll deductions Process employee-related requests and documentation, including tax forms, verifications, and third-party disability requests Manage COBRA-related payments, including tracking, reconciliation, and reporting Research and resolve outstanding checks; coordinate unclaimed property processes in compliance with state requirements Maintain spreadsheets and support year-end balancing for third-party reporting (e.g., union or benefits-related tracking) Process loan repayments and other payroll-related deductions through the payroll system Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll vendor-related inquiries and issue resolution Support additional data entry and reporting needs as required Provide excellent customer service, responding to employee and management inquiries in a timely and professional manner Act as a key resource during internal and external audits Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required 2+ years of payroll or HRIS experience preferred, ideally in a high-volume environment Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across multiple levels of an organization High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information Proficiency with payroll systems and general computer applications; experience with systems such as ADP or similar is a plus Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Why This Role?
