Job Description

Plastic Lathe Machinist We are seeking a skilled Plastic Lathe Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain a CNC lathe for machining plastic components to precise specifications. This role requires experience working with various engineering plastics, strong blueprint-reading skills, and a commitment to quality and safety. This is a contract position and will run for at least 4 weeks but likely longer. Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine plastic parts according to drawings and specifications Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds for plastic materials Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, GD&T, and work instructions Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure tolerances are met Perform basic machine maintenance, tool changes, and troubleshooting Adjust programs or machining processes to improve quality and efficiency Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company safety policies Document production data and inspection results as required Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve issues Skills: CNC, lathe machine, plastic, Lathe Top Skills Details: CNC, lathe machine, plastic Additional Skills & Qualifications: Required Qualifications: 2+ years of experience operating lathes, preferably machining plastic materials Proficiency in lathe operation; CNC lathe experience a plus Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Strong understanding of machining tolerances and quality standards Experience using precision measuring instruments Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Knowledge of shop safety practices and procedures Preferred Qualifications: Experience with CNC programming or editing (G-code) Familiarity with tight-tolerance plastic machining Experience in low- to medium-volume, high-mix manufacturing Technical or vocational machining training Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods Lift up to [e.g., 50 lbs] with or without assistance Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision work Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with machine noise Experience Level: Intermediate Level Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
