OBJECTIVE: Under general supervision of the Assistant Operations Director - Solid Waste, performs a variety of attendant duties, data entry, and customer service for the efficient and effective operation of the City's Compost Site and Clean Fill Facility during the months of March through early December. RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Assistant Operations Director - Solid Waste and indirectly to the Operations Director. Has no regular supervisory duties. Essential DutiesESSENTIAL DUTIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Receives vehicles and customers entering the disposal sites and directs them to proper disposal areas based on waste types and quantities. Ensures vehicles and customers are in compliance with disposal site policies and procedures. Screens incoming waste loads for banned materials; rejects unacceptable waste materials. Processes cash and charge payments in accordance with established site user fees. Collects money, processes payment and issues receipt for payment. Enters financial transactions into computer software system and balances the deposit. Prepares appropriate financial records and billing reports as required for use by other division and department staff. Maintains accurate and current records of daily disposal site operations. Communicates via radio to other city employees. Performs related office duties, including filing materials, sorting materials. Performs cleaning activities within attendant building. Responds to customer inquiries of basic division information within established guidelines; refers customer to appropriate person. Maintains confidentiality of the division. Other duties as assigned or required. Minimum Position Requirements/QualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND PRIOR EXPERIENCE Minimum education and experience required to perform essential duties of the position. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous clerical and customer service experience preferred.
