Must meet requirements for paraprofessionals set by the Illinois State Board of Education2. Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively and fluently in English3. Competent in utilizing a computer to communicate via email and in using an officeproductivity suite like Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Word) or Google Apps forEducation4. Demonstrated compassion, patience and teamwork5. Training and/or experience as teacher assistant desiredPhysical Requirements:1. Standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching,handling, pushing, pulling is required2. Must have the ability to lift and move 60 lbs.REPORTS TO: Building Administrator(s); Teacher(s) will provide guidanceJOB GOAL:?To assist the teacher and students in achieving their educational goals? To assist students in a variety of settings within the school and on field trips? To support students so that they may participate in classes and activities with peersPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:(These are intended as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Demonstrates consistent and reliable attendance3. Reads and responds to district/building communications in a timely manner andwithin any explicitly defined deadlines4. Works with individual students or small groups to support/reinforce classroomlessons and objectives as directed by the teacher5. Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assignedby the teacher6. Assists the teacher in monitoring student behavior/academic progress7. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, playperiods, and field trips and transition periods8. Works with/assists teacher in supporting classroom instruction, providing materialsand creating a positive instructional environment9. When applicable, assists teacher in implementing Individual Education Plan10. Shares information on student progress and student concerns with the classroomteacher in a timely fashion11. On a regular basis, establishes a time within the school day to collaborate and discussexpected duties with the assigned teacher (s)12. Helps students with their clothing, lunch, snacks, and clean up routine13. Serves as a source of information for substitute teachers14. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality15. Demonstrates effective management of his/her time and student schedules16. Implements and follows the District's Health and Accident/Injury Procedures andBloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan17. Supports and implements the District's Risk Management Policy to ensure thatstatutory and common law health and safety rights are extended to all visitors,employees, and students, to provide careful supervision and protection of all Districtreal and personal property18. Conducts himself/herself as a role model for students19. Participates in professional development/training programs as directed by building ordistrict administrator(s)20. Completes all District required trainings and adhere to all Board policies andprocedures21.
