They develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate all instructional programming while adhering to Board policies. Additionally, the principal cultivates an inclusive, welcoming environment for students, staff, and families. They support curriculum, instruction, and assessment to implement district expectations and integrate continuous improvement. The principal also conducts personnel evaluations, sets high expectations for success, collaborates on effective procedures/practices for the school, and manages all budgets to support efficient operations and goal achievement.Qualifications - Education & Experience:Master's degree or higher in the field of administration preferred, with course work in educational leadership and/or curriculum instruction.Valid State of Michigan Administrator Certification.Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate, preferred.Minimum of three years of building administrative or leadership experience, preferred.Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practices for schools.Demonstrated knowledge of current educational issues, best practice strategies, and ability to improve teacher instruction.Demonstrated leadership and success in parent/community relations, staff development, and human relations.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) with stakeholders.Demonstrated implementation of and experience with current federal and state laws and policies.Ability to articulate and promote the philosophy and mission of Leonard Elementary School in alignment with the district vision, mission, and core values.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Leadership and VisionDevelop and implement a shared vision for school improvement that promotes academic excellence.Cultivate a positive, inclusive school culture focused on student success.Lead strategic planning initiatives aligned with district goals and objectives.Set high expectations for teaching, learning, and student achievement; making data-driven decisions.Instructional LeadershipSupervise curriculum implementation and ensure alignment with state standards.Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to teachers.Support and guide professional development for all staff members.Analyze student achievement data to drive instructional decisions.Implement effective strategies to close achievement gaps.Possess a knowledge and understanding of elementary Essential Practices.Personnel ManagementRecruit, hire, and retain high-quality teachers and staff.Conduct regular staff evaluations according to district policies.Address performance issues promptly and effectively.Delegate responsibilities appropriately to assistant principals and teacher leaders.Foster collaborative teamwork among faculty and staff.Student ManagementEstablish clear behavioral expectations and discipline procedures.Monitor student attendance and implement improvement strategies.Oversee special education programs and ensure compliance with IEPs.Support social-emotional learning initiatives and student well-being.Recognize and celebrate student achievements.Administrative DutiesDevelop and manage school budget and resources.Maintain accurate school records and documentation.Ensure compliance with district policies and state/federal regulations.Oversee school facilities and coordinate maintenance needs.Develop and maintain the building schedule.School Safety and SecurityImplement comprehensive safety protocols and emergency procedures.Conduct regular safety drills and update emergency plans.Monitor school security measures and address concerns promptly.Create a physically and emotionally safe learning environment.Family and Community RelationsCommunicate regularly with parents through various channels.Establish meaningful partnerships with families and community organizations.Host parent information sessions and community events.Address parent concerns and resolve conflicts effectively.Represent the school at district and community functions.Professional GrowthPursue ongoing professional development opportunities.Stay current with educational research and best practices.Participate in principal networks and leadership collaborations.Model lifelong learning for staff and students.Data and AccountabilityMonitor and evaluate school performance metrics.Develop and implement school improvement plans.Prepare and present reports on school progress.Ensure compliance with accountability requirements.Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance.Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.Support the Oxford Community Schools vision and mission.Perform other duties as required.Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and LearningSalary: Per Oxford Administrators Association Salary ScheduleBenefits: Oxford Community Schools provides company paid coverage for dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, employee assistance program, and paid time off.
