Position Title: Summer Camp Support Specialist Department: Learning and Engagement Reports To: Learning Programs Manager Location: Audubon Zoo, Aquarium and Insectarium FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Date Revised: February 2026 Position Type: Full Time Temporary What You'll DoSupport Specialists provide operational, classroom, and behavioral support for summer camps and may mentor Instructors and Counselors-in-Training.Shift Times: 7:30am-4:00pm (before care) OR 9:30am-6:00pm (after care).Schedule: 8 weeks starting June (no camp week of July 4th); training in late May.Day to Day ResponsibilitiesSupervising campers (K-7th grade) and mentoring Counselors-in-Training.Providing classroom support, including substituting for lead/assistant instructors.Offering 1:1 camper support for various behavioral needs.Reviewing rosters, checking attendance, and completing daily reports.Ensuring supplies are replenished and preparing daily activities.Supporting before and after care operations as assigned.What We're Looking ForMust Haves (Required):At least 18 years of age.1+ years working with children in a camp or classroom setting.Experience instructing children and communicating with diverse groups.Nice-to-Haves (Preferred):Experience with program administrative support or leading peers.Knowledge of wildlife conservation.Certification or experience in behavioral support needs.Physical Requirements & Environmental ConditionsDemands: Stand/walk for 2/3 of the day; lift 20 pounds; use hands for office/manual tools.Conditions: Constant contact with co-workers; exposed to noise and extreme outdoor heat.
