SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting with the oversight of a single program or multiple programs by working with the program coordinator and community partners with inquiries, applications, presentations, and general coordination of the program.SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:Receives general supervision from the Program Coordinator. Supervisor sets the overall objectives and employee and supervisor, in consultation, develop the deadlines, projects, and work to be done; employee is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment; and work is reviewed only from an overall standpoint.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:1. Work with community members to explain program and eligibility requirements.2. Meet with community members to assist with applications with the program(s).3. Conduct information sessions.4. Plan, collaborate, and coordinate implementation of events for the program and service projects.5. Promote interest in opportunities for programs; make presentations to varied community gatherings of older adults, retirement communities, etc.; organize and facilitate information sessions; post information and update volunteers.6. Manage community resource obligations.7. Other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:1. Knowledge of social work programs and processes.2. Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.3. Knowledge and ability to operate office equipment including telephone, copy machine, fax machine, computer, and calculator.4. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business Administration, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Geriatric Studies, or a related field, or at least (2) years of experience in administrative or service positions in aging programs, healthcare, or family caregiver support program.5. A valid driver's license and a good driving record.WORK CONDITIONS:The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there maybe some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving anautomobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneThis position is budgeted for approximately 25-30 hours per week. Final scheduled hours may be discussed during the interview process. Eligibility for health insurance benefits is determined in accordance with agency policy and applicable law, generally at 30 hours per week.
