The City of Geneva's Public Works Department is seeking motivated Seasonal Summer Laborers to assist with a variety of maintenance and improvement projects throughout the City. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, being outside, and supporting the services that keep our community running smoothly. Examples of Duties Summer Laborers are typically assigned to a primary division: Streets, Water Treatment, Wastewater, Downtown Beautification, and work on a variety of different projects, including but not limited to:Assist crews with special projectsUse power tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repairs to City infrastructureDrive City vehicles to and from job sitesPlant, water, prune and care for City trees, flower beds, plants, etc. Perform maintenance to City buildings and grounds, such as painting, mowing, mulching, etc.Assist crews with special event setup and takedown Typical Qualifications Age 18 or older by time of hireValid driver's license with a clean driving recordAbility to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditionsAbility to perform physical work which may include lifting ~20 lbs., prolonged periods of walking, kneeling, standing, climbing, etc. Supplemental Information Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday - no nights or weekends! We are flexible regarding scheduled time off for vacations, long weekends, etc. There may be instances where laborers are required to report early or work later, depending on assignments.
