The Department of Family Services (DFS) Mission: DFS strengthens the well-being of our diverse community by protecting and improving the lives of all children, adults, and families through assistance, partnership, advocacy, outreach, and quality services. Its workforce of approximately 1,000 employees is distributed at multiple county facilities and serves within six main agency divisions: Public Assistance and Employment Services (PAES); Children Youth and Families; Adult and Aging; Domestic and Sexual Violence Services; the Comprehensive Services Act; and Administrative Operations. Works under general direction of the Training Specialist III (Learning Programs and Staff Development Coordinator).This position coordinates learning projects and tasks required to execute organizational learning strategies, programs, and initiatives to ensure department employees have essential service knowledge and skills, effectively applied to achieve service delivery outcomes. This involves assisting with all instructional learning design phases to include assessment, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Serves as an integral member of the Professional Development and Training team that supports departmentwide professional development strategic planning and management at the departmental, divisional, programmatic and unit/team organizational levels, to include department project teams, workgroups, and task forces. Illustrative Duties Serves as a consultant to departments and agencies on various training/personal development issues;Delivers and/or coordinates the delivery of various training programs on a countywide basis (i.e. supervisory development, staff training, and other personal development programs);Assesses training needs of various divisions/departments and makes recommendations on program offerings;Researches new training programs and makes recommendations on their procurement;Coordinates the delivery of courses and prepares course descriptions for inclusion in training program catalogues and announcements;Researches technology-based training;Facilitates team-building exercises at the work group or departmental level;Plays a support role in the implementation of various organizational development activities.
