JOB TITLE: Training Coordinator/Paramedic NRPDEPARTMENT: Emergency Medical ServiceREPORTS TO: Emergency Medical Services DirectorJOB SUMMARY:The Training Coordinator/Paramedic NRP is responsible for working with the leadership team to develop curriculum, scheduling, and teaching continuing education for all EMS staff members. They will oversee orientation of all employees and provide guidance to all EMS staff. They will work with CRH field training officers and outside agencies with EMS specific training.The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. They must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.JOB REQUIREMENTSCurrently licensed as a Wyoming EMT-Paramedic and National Registry - Paramedic. Must be at least 21 years old.EXPERIENCETwo years of EMS pre-hospital preferred. Passion for education and training.SKILLSMust possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.Must have excellent leadership skills.Good driving skills are essential.Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.Must have well-developed written and oral communication skills.Must have ability to quickly and calmly react to life threatening situations.Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.Ability to communicate with a variety of people of different cultural backgrounds and educational levels.Ability to assess and treat patients to the US DOT and Wyoming Office of EMS, EMT- Paramedic level.Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles.Effective computer and keyboarding skills.Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.Ability to learn new computer software applications.Partial list of skills: Endotracheal Intubation Orogastric / Nasogastric Tube Insertions Combitube Insertions Interpretive EKG Defibrillation Needle Thoracentesis Cardioversion Surgical Cricothyroidotomy Transcutaneous Pacing Authorized Medications Administration IV and IO Access Foley Catheter Insertion Rapid Sequence Intubation Ventilator ManagementREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONSAHA Healthcare as BLS Provider, ACLS Provider, PALS or EMSC Advanced Provider; PHTLS Advanced Provider. Current clean Wyoming Driver's License.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSWorks with EMS management and field training officers to develop and facilitate EMS continuing education for all EMS staff members.Oversee the orientation of all new hires into the EMS department and assist in identifying remedial training for staff.Coordinates, maintains, and ensures all certifications/recertification, licenses are completed in a timely manner and files all necessary paperwork with the appropriate agencies.Coordinate with the Surgery department for Paramedic staff to maintain proficiency in airway procedures.Ensures all EMS staff comply with licensure requirements from Wyoming Office of EMS and National Registry of EMT's.Reports, initiates, and assists with performance improvement associated with quality/compliance issues.Oversee the orientation process for new employeesWill input training in Wyoming OWLS software.Maintains competency on all equipment within scope of practice.Maintains a professional appearance of the approved uniform and dress code in accordance with the CRH EMS Uniform Policy. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must have excellent organizational skills.Always acts in a professional manner and shall be able to handle conflict situations with good judgment.Functions as a Paramedic when staffing the Ambulance.Must possess good teaching skills.Mentor, develop, train, over-see orientation/preceptorships and in-service staff.Perform other duties as assigned by EMS Director.SECONDARY FUNCTIONSAbility to safely operate an ambulance in non-emergency and emergency driving conditions.Assist in the Emergency Department under the direction and supervision of ED physician.Must have a working knowledge of the geographic area, street system, and demographics of CRH EMS coverage area.Assist in community service events.Assist other agencies with training.Works on special projects assigned by the EMS Department DirectorPerform other duties as assigned or requested.Respects the dignity, welfare, and basic rights of all patients and employees.Maintain insurability for hospital motor vehicle coverage.
