The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the life, music, and cultural impact of Bruce Springsteen and the broader story of American music. With an annual operating budget of nearly $5 million, the Center is entering an exciting new chapter.On June 7, 2026, the Center will open its permanent 30,000 square-foot building open to the public, providing daily access to its archives, exhibitions, and educational programming. The Center anticipates welcoming more than 50,000 visitors annually-approximately 160 guests per day-requiring a strategic, customer-focused operation at the onset.Position Summary: We are looking for a professional, customer-service-oriented store manager to oversee daily retail and ticket operations at our gift shop. As a Gift Shop Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining high operational and organizational standards. You will be responsible for training new staff/volunteers and creating a welcoming environment for customers and staff members.Our ideal candidate should be motivated by customer satisfaction and be willing to work to improve satisfaction scores and create a better overall experience. You should be an excellent communicator and have leadership skills. Candidates should also have interpersonal de-escalation and problem-solving skills. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position based in West Long Branch, NJ.For more information about the Center, please visit .Duties and Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities:Manage daily activities, including opening/closing, ticketing, cash-handling, deposits, and end of day reconciliation.Train, schedule, and motivate employees, fostering a positive work environment.Monitor stock levels, order products, and create appealing, organized product displays.Address customer complaints, resolve issues, and ensure a high-quality, welcoming shopping experience.Maintain shop cleanliness and ensure safety protocols are followed.Collaborate with BSCAM staff on shop promotions and special events.Create visually appealing displays that align with exhibitions and programs.Responsible for sales performance and operational metrics, budgeting, and reporting.Maintain and update the product catalogue using Shopify POS.Ensure compliance with POS policies, procedures, and loss prevention.Other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours daily.Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.Ability to use a ladder to reach high items.Ability to bend to reach lower items.Minimum Qualifications:Previous retail experience.Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 2+ years of experience using Shopify. Proficiency in inventory management, ticketing software POS systems. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.Basic financial insight for handling cash, budgets, and reporting.Interest in supporting our cultural and non-profit mission.Preferred Qualifications:Retail leadership or supervisory role.
