About the job R&D Engineer IV R&D Engineer IV - Hartsville, SC Salary : $104,325.00 to $125,190.00FULL RELOCATION + BONUSMust-Haves1Full Time industrial experience in R&D with focus on Polymer Science, Coatings, Extrusion & Thermoforming2Understanding of plastic materials, preferably those used in food and beverage packaging, with demonstrated knowledge of Solidworks being a plus.3Knowledge of forming processes for packaging and industrial applications, such as rigid sheet thermoforming, injection molding and extrusion.Job DescriptionThis position is under the direction of the R&D Manager for the Rigid Plastics Packaging division that includes developing, designing, and qualifying new thermoplastic materials and processes for Client Plastics end use markets. The individual will be instrumental in identifying sustainable packaging solutions for our customers by taking ideas and technical insights through a comprehensive process to drive growth in the marketplace. In addition, this senior level engineer will drive projects to increase productivity, capacity, and efficiency across our manufacturing plants.What youll be doing:Be a subject matter expert in plastic materials and additivesAddress internal and external customer needs and packaging opportunities in a manufacturing settingProvide creative solutions to new and existing packaging problems involving materials and processes in a timely and cost-effective mannerOriginate new ideas to support the R&D product innovation and technology strategyParticipate in regular portfolio review meetings to ensure proper balance in portfolio along with consensus on prioritiesManage the technical integration of projects through collaboration with suppliers, internal cross-functional teams, and customers to assure performance criteria are metEstablish an environment which motivates and engages others in the R&D organization to achieve desired resultsFoster a positive, safe work environment through open communication and an atmosphere of teamworkEnsure compliance with company safety policies and procedures to protect all employeesWed love to hear from you if:Bachelors degree in Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering, Chemistry; Masters degree preferred5+ years of related experience with a strong technical background in plastics, resins, coatings, and laminates including extensive knowledge in material analysis and testingProcessing experience in extrusion, thermoforming, and injection molding, experience in consumer-based food packaging is a plusResults driven with a high level of personal initiative, energy, and ownership for successInquisitive mind, actively staying aware of new and developing technologies inside and outside of the industrySelf-starter with a positive can do attitude and able to work independentlyExperience leading projects working across different functions in the organization (e.g., commercial, manufacturing, supply management)Strong technical capability & problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills both written and verbalAbility to work in a fast-paced, results orientated environmentHighly organized and self-motivated with a hands-on work ethic
