This position will remain open until filled with preference given to applications received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026.This position will work a rotation schedule every other weekWeek 1: Tuesday 1:00pm-11:30pm, Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm, Friday 5:00am-3:30pm, Saturday 0830am - 7:00pmWeek 2: Monday 1:00pm-11:30, Tuesday 1:00pm-11:30pm, Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm, Friday 5:00am-3:30pmPrimary Objective of PositionThe Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for administration and supervision of the maintenance needs of all Metro Bus vehicles, equipment, facilities and grounds. The Maintenance Supervisor provides direct supervision and management of the Mechanics, Fuelers and Facility & Bus Cleaners.Essential Functions of the PositionEssential duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or logical to the position.Assist with administration and oversight of maintenance needs of all Metro Bus property and equipment. Responsible for compliance with Metro Bus's comprehensive preventative maintenance inspection and repair program for:Metro Bus fleet (revenue and non-revenue vehicles)Oversee preventative maintenance and mechanical repairsMonitor preventative maintenance intervals, checklists, replacement parts and fluidsEnsure proper completion of maintenance records and forms and all maintenance activities are accurately documentedPerform road calls and/or switch out buses when equipment fails. Trouble shoot, fix and repair buses roadsideResponsible for ensuring efficient and effective maintenance, cleaning and upkeep of all Metro Bus fleetMetro Bus support equipment, diesel and CNG fueling and monitoring stationsOversee preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs.Monitor preventative maintenance intervals, checklists, replacement parts and fluidsEnsure proper completion of maintenance records and forms and all maintenance activities are accurately documented.Responsible for oversight of the fueling of CNG and Diesel buses using the tricorder per standard operating proceduresAll Metro Bus facilities and grounds.Oversee preventative maintenance and repairsMonitor preventative maintenance intervals, checklists, replacement parts and fluidsEnsure proper completion of maintenance records and forms and all maintenance activities are accurately documentedResponsible for ensuring efficient and effective maintenance, cleaning and upkeep of all Metro Bus facilities and grounds, bus shelters and stops including but not limited to snow removal and storage and parking lot and ground maintenanceManage inventory of parts, supplies, tires, equipment, fleet, fuel and fluids using a Just in Time Inventory management philosophy. Complete tire mileage reports.Responsible for posting of daily, weekly, and monthly fuel and fluid usageResponsible for ordering and receiving all partsManagement and supervision of staffManage employee performance; provide coaching and mentoring, address performance concerns and issue discipline as appropriateResponsible for daily supervision of Mechanics, Fuelers and Facility & Bus Cleaners Manage maintenance staff in daily maintenance operationsEnsure compliance with policies, rules, regulations and schedules. Maintain appropriate written documentationAssist the Human Resource and Training and Safety department in:Screening, interviewing and hiring of direct staffPlanning and preparation of training and remedial programs to new and present staffMaintaining the application of appropriate preventative measures and procedures for shop safety and OSHA complianceEnsure proper care and use of tools, equipment and shop areasCommunicates courteously and professionally and maintains respectful working relationships with coworkers and customers in carrying out job functionsPerforms all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and with an ongoing awareness of safety practicesKnows and follows safety rules and guidelines as well as sound work and safety practices in order to accomplish the job objectives and avoid injury or lossWears proper protective equipment when policy requires or conditions indicate a need exists and utilizes proper body mechanics and ergonomics while performing workWhen potentially unsafe conditions are observed, makes efforts to avoid or correct them if they are controllable and draws them to the attention of the responsible supervisor or safety representative in a timely mannerPerforms other duties and activities as assigned.Minimum QualificationsThe job requires a two (2) year degree or certification from a technical or community college, two (2) years of experience in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle mechanics, and three (3) years of management and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge, skills and abilities required include:Demonstrated background in heavy duty vehicle maintenanceKnowledge in the operating principles of diesel and heavy-duty vehicle equipment, shop equipment and other related vehicle and facilities itemsKnowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the tradeExperience with vehicle, fluids and parts inventory and fleet maintenance softwareMust be able to maintain a high level of confidentialityAbility to operate buses and support vehicles and equipment including a plow truck, fork lift, skid loader and floor scrubberProficient in the use of computers and electronic diagnostic programsMust be able to read and speak English well enough to read technical documents and effectively communicate with team members. Bilingual a plusAbility to work flexible work schedules including late evenings, early mornings and weekendsAbility to deal tactfully and courteously with co-workers, subordinates, and the general public and to diffuse situations/conversations that have escalated beyond normal limitsInterpersonal skills sufficient to exchange and or convey information, receive work direction, and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, committees and groups; and to diffuse situations/conversations that have escalated beyond normal limitsAbility to maintain a valid Class B Minnesota Driver License, with passenger and air brake endorsements, and a current DOT medical certificateDesirable QualificationsKnowledge of CNG operating principlesKnowledge of Fleet Maintenance software principlesPhysical Demands and Working EnvironmentThis position is alternately in an office and maintenance shop environment requiring alternating periods of sitting and walking throughout the maintenance garageOccasional exposure to temperature extremes, noise, physical and/or chemical hazardsUtilizes personal computer, phone and other office equipment on a regular basisWill require limited travel outside of the office and maintenance shop. Will primarily utilize a Metro Bus vehicle for travelThis position requires 24/7 availability either in person or by phone.
