CNC / Manual MachinistLocation: Jackson, MI Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts (First Shift) Pay: Competitive - Based on ExperienceAbout the RoleWe are looking for a skilled CNC / Manual Machinist who enjoys working across multiple machining environments and takes pride in producing high-quality precision parts. This role combines CNC machining with manual machining responsibilities and requires someone who can work independently, troubleshoot problems, and maintain strong quality standards.The ideal candidate is comfortable programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment while also having the ability to perform manual machining work when needed. This position plays a key role in maintaining production efficiency, supporting engineering needs, and contributing to continuous improvement within the machining department.RequirementsKey ResponsibilitiesMachining & ProgrammingProgram, setup, and operate CNC mills and lathes using MasterCAM, GibbsCAM, or similar software.Perform machining operations using manual mills, lathes, and other shop equipment.Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machining processes to complete jobs efficiently.Quality & ProductionUse standard gaging equipment to verify part accuracy and ensure compliance with specifications.Adjust machining processes to maintain quality standards.Identify and reject non-conforming materials and follow established quality procedures.Provide estimated completion timing for work-in-progress when requested by engineering or production teams.Shop OperationsMaintain ownership of assigned machining areas including tooling, fixtures, and programs.File and maintain machining programs, tooling sheets, and setup documentation.Support scheduling and production planning by monitoring inventory levels.Assist in training and mentoring other machinists when needed.Continuous ImprovementCollaborate with vendors and internal teams to improve machining efficiency, quality, and setup times.Support cross-training across machining areas including CNC lathe, CNC mill, manual machining, and tool cell operations.QualificationsJourneyman Card, Technical Certificate, or 5+ years of machining experience.Experience operating both CNC and manual machining equipment preferred.Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools.Experience with CAM programming software such as MasterCAM or GibbsCAM.Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and work independently.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a manufacturing machining environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, machine coolant, airborne particles, and elevated noise levels.
