This will vary depending on individual student needs. This includes communication with the student's teacher(s) and obtaining current curriculum assignments, supporting the completion of academic and related classwork missed, working with individual students, keeping records and student data, and proctoring of assessments. REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or equivalent.Washington State driver's license and reliable transportation.Required travel between locations daily and experiencing frequent interruptions and schedule changes may occur.Ability to assist students in a wide range of academic, social, and behavioral abilities, including students with special needs.Knowledge in math, reading, and written language. Successful experience working with students/adolescents.Successful experiencing working with students with developmental disabilities (preferred, not required).Ability and willingness to learn and implement new strategies and techniques.Possession of excellent communication skills including active listening and two-way communication.Ability and willingness to maintain an upbeat, positive, and collaborative demeanor.Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment.Ability and willingness to make independent decisions as well as work collaboratively with other staff.Ability and willingness to admit faults and learn from mistakes.Ability and willingness to apply policies, procedures, statutes, and regulations accurately.Ability and willingness to effectively and efficiently perform work in a fast paced environment with competing demands through organization, attention to detail, and prioritization. Ability and willingness to work with diverse students, staff, and families.Ability and willingness to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Works one-on-one with homebound student(s) to assist in completing academic objectives. Assists the teacher by reporting student progress related to instructional tasks and activities. Assists the student in progressing on IEP goals. Performs routine recordkeeping for students as established by the teacher. Assists the student as needed operating computers, word processors, calculators, and other technology as required. Organizes materials for students.Establishes rapport and maintain good communication with students, families, and other school personnel. Assists in implementing a student behavior management program when necessary. Participates in in-service/staff development training and meetings when directed or appropriate. Assists the teacher in implementing activities that contribute toward the development of a continually evolving and quality instructional program.Other duties as assigned.
