Please log into Workday and use the Career Tile to find and apply to jobs from our internal career sites.Under the supervision of the Director of Residence Life, the Residence Hall Director supports the mission of the university by maintaining a positive, vibrant residential community in which students can thrive personally, socially, and academically. The Residence Hall Director is a live-in staff member who provides oversight, programming, accountability, and support to a residence hall of up to 275 students. Additionally, the Residence Hall Director serves the larger campus community by providing regular on-call coverage, providing administrative support for the Housing Office, and serving on committees and projects to help develop the Residence Life program.Lead by example in prioritizing a STUDENT FIRST customer service model that standardizes the following five categories:1. SERVICEResidence Hall ManagementEnsuring the health and safety of residentsReporting and following up on maintenance issuesMaintaining a schedule of student staff coverage for the residence hallManaging the opening and closing operations of the residence hallFacilitating room assignments and re-assignments as neededProviding regular programming opportunities, and adequately maintaining the programming budget for the residence hallStudent SupportMaintaining regular contact with students living in assigned residence hallProviding direct intervention as needed for behavioral, social, academic, or other issues that may ariseMediating conflict between residents and advising administrative staff about appropriate resolutionServing as a liaison between residents and the Director of Student DevelopmentCommunicating with residents regarding university events, hall programming, and administrative needsReferring students to appropriate campus resources as neededEnsuring student records are appropriately maintained and follow all relevant privacy lawsStudent Staff DevelopmentParticipating in recruitment and training of Residence Life student staffSupervising a student staff of up to twelve Resident Assistants and Residence Hall LeadersConducting weekly meetings with student staff to coordinate administrative efforts and develop staffConducting regular meetings with individual staff members for ongoing training and supportCampus SupportServing in regular on-duty rotations as scheduled throughout the semesterServing in an on-duty capacity 1-2 weekends per month as scheduled throughout the calendar yearMaintaining adequate communication with student staff across campus while on dutyRepresenting University of the Cumberlands and Residence Life to other departments and/or external constituents as neededAssisting in crisis response and emergency management according to provided trainingFaithfully enforcing university policies and standards of conduct with all studentsReporting and following up on conduct violations in a timely and professional mannerAdministrative SupportAttending regular Residence Life staff meetingsParticipating in training and orientation sessionsAttending regular meetings with Director of Residence Life, Assistant Director of Residence Life, and Area Coordinators for ongoing training and supportMaintaining appropriate communication with other Residence Life staff membersServing on assigned department committees and project groupsRepresenting Residence Life in the Residence Life Office by assisting students and/or families as neededRepresenting Residence Life at Admissions events, Commencement, and other campus events as neededPerforming other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited universityExperience in residence hall/student personnel managementWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteEffective oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated personal commitment to the principles and values of the University of the CumberlandsPreferred QualificationsIn-process or completed Master's degree in Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, or another related fieldExperience in crisis management and interventionAbility to be flexible and solve complex problems in an appropriate and timely mannerFamiliarity with housing management and conduct management systemsCumberlands is different by design.
