Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Industrial Practice in Seattle. Responsibilities include balancing the performance and process of multiple projects of varying size and scope. The Sr PM is also responsible to advance the opportunities for continued growth in market share and profitability in specific service lines. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional eager to participate in a fast-paced, collaborative team, who can execute and lead all phases of design which include feasibility studies, planning, concept development, detailed design, construction documentation and specifications. Reviews, interprets and applies the Building Code in compliance with the application.Interfaces with the Construction Manager and Site Manager to resolve design coordination details and any constructability issues as well as assists with the value engineering effortResponsible for coordinating professional service contract with clients and agreements with consultantsCoordinates with financial staff to ensure maintain billing and invoice schedule for their projects and monitors payment statusAssist with mentoring, training and coordinating work of teammate and junior staffEmbrace specific steps to create, develop and promote a diverse workforce and to promote an inclusive environmentProject DeliveryManage and lead the Key Project Management Functions: Opportunities, Projects, Planning and AccountingConduct informal meetings with project team on a regular basis and give direction as required so that the project stays on course, within budget, etc. Provide recommendations as needed for corrective actions on a regular basisUpdate Team Leader on a regular basis regarding project status and notify Team Leader/Studio Director and/or Operations Director and/or Managing Director immediately if the project is off track, etc. Provide solutions to situations that need resolutionDevelop and facilitate contracts between NELSON, Client and outside consultants for services with the approval from the Studio Director and/or Managing DirectorManage the project contract performance and process understanding the scope, budget, and quality agreed to by the ClientExecute the contract in alignment with approved work plans, schedules and budgets to attain profitability targets to manage and monitor the project life cycle and financial outcome of the projectCommunicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provides support as necessaryEnsure project documentation and contracts are compliant with NELSON standardsEnsure that design reviews occur at the designated stages of projectsMonitor and, when appropriate, manage communication between the project team and client, consultants, contractors and vendors to communicate design requirements or coordinate design documentsContribute to and offer professional opinion to the office Leadership Team of the firm regarding current projects, staff, client relationships, etc.Complete timesheet daily, confirming accuracy prior to submissionComplete expense reports timely, confirming accuracy prior to submissionParticipate as requested in meetings with the office leadership team to share ideas regarding existing and overall organization, business development opportunities, position in the marketplace, etc.Support the office leadership team with firm wide initiativesTake on special projects as directed by the office leadership teamTechnicalConduct initial review of drawings, documents and proposals prior to other reviews ensuring accuracy and completenessReview all plans and other production tasks for accuracy prior to submission to Team Leader, Studio Director, or Technical DirectorEstablish a process and ensure all projects receive QA/QC review by assigned Technical Director, Design Director, Architect, etc.Guide teammates in utilizing all NELSON resources within their office, with in the team/account, and across the network to deliver quality technical and/or creative designMaintain and archive electronic project filesFinancial ManagementInitiate and maintain contracts with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination and negotiation of critical issuesInitiate project set up and input information in to Deltek Vision/VantagepointManage project using the Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint; complete work plans; including identification of Teammate assignments to skill sets, schedule for completion, project budget, consultants, fees and labor costs as well as project change notices or other actions taking place on the assigned project. Review with your Project Analyst to ensure projects are being set up appropriatelyPrepare invoices with accuracy for review with your assigned Project AnalystClient RelationshipFunction as the primary Client contact through all phases of the projectMaintain positive client relationships throughout project. Keep Client apprised of project progress on regular basisAssist Client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts if requiredFoster relationships with Clients, Vendors, Brokers, Consultants etc. and engage with them on a personal level as well as work to gain their confidenceBusiness DevelopmentParticipate in marketing and business development opportunities as requestedDevelop work plans, fee proposals and project schedules in response to RFP's and other opportunitiesNurture professional relationships with Clients on an ongoing basis to assist with business development for the firmSupport business development initiatives set forth by the office leadership teamDevelop a personal business development action plan with Team Lead, Studio Director and or Managing DirectorMake recommendations to office leadership regarding quantity, complexity, and diversity of future projects they feel are necessary for considerationEducation / Experience:Minimum 7+ years of relevant project management and architectural experience executing industrial & manufacturing all phases of projects including schematic design, design development, QA/QC reviews and permitting assistance, construction documents, contract documents and construction administration servicesExperience designing warehouse, distribution facilities and e-commerce facilities is a high priorityExperience designing manufacturing and fabrication facilities, coordinating tooling and equipment lines is highly desirable. Coordination cranes, lifts and material handling equipmentExperience with site-cast tilt up construction and pre-engineered building systems is desirableExposure to and a working knowledge of a broad range of engineering disciplines including civil/site work, structural, architectural, mechanical systems (refrigeration, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, hot water, domestic water, compressed air, plumbing and HVAC), and electrical power distributionPlant engineering experience is a plusExecution of projects within an A/E/C design firmDeveloped specifications, interfaced with and coordinated multidisciplinary teams, both on-site and remotely, particularly in private industryFacility, utility design projects for manufacturing and distribution clientsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for formal presentations, maintaining client relationships and interacting with our valued team membersStrong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft ProjectMust have AutoCAd, Revit, Bluebeam and specification writing programs (Masterspec, BSD SpecLink)Experience with Newforma and Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint desirableLicenses and CertificationsProfessional Architectural or Engineering licensure is preferred National Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 (compensation factors are based upon years of relevant experience, qualifications/licensure, education, and location). Additional compensation includes bonuses and benefits.
