Job Description

Position Summary The Pediatric Dentist provides comprehensive dental care to infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs in a community health center setting. This role focuses on preventive and restorative care, patient and caregiver education, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary care team to address oral health disparities. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Provide comprehensive pediatric dental services including:Exams, diagnoses, and treatment planningPreventive care (fluoride, sealants, anticipatory guidance)Restorative dentistry, pulp therapy, extractions, and space maintenanceManagement of dental trauma and emergenciesTreat patients with special healthcare needs with compassion and clinical expertiseUtilize behavior management techniques appropriate for pediatric patientsEnsure all care is delivered in accordance with evidence-based standards and FQHC regulations Patient & Family Engagement Educate patients and caregivers on oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive practicesBuild trust with families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgroundsPromote a welcoming, trauma-informed, and child-friendly environment Collaboration & Program Support Work collaboratively with dental hygienists, dental assistants, primary care providers, and behavioral health staffParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical performance activitiesSupport school-based or community outreach programs as neededMaintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic dental record (EDR) Compliance & Quality Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations including HRSA and New York State requirementsFollow infection control, risk management, and patient safety protocolsParticipate in peer review, chart audits, and continuing education activities Required Qualifications DDS or DMD from an accredited dental schoolCompletion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency programCurrent or eligible New York State dental licenseDEA registration (or eligibility)CPR/BLS certificationExperience or strong interest in serving underserved and diverse populations Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in an FQHC, community health center, or public health settingExperience treating Medicaid and uninsured pediatric populationsBilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Bengali)Familiarity with electronic dental records and quality reporting Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experienceEligibility for NHSC Loan Repayment ProgramComprehensive benefits package including:Medical, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and paid holidaysCME allowance and paid CME timeMalpractice insurance coverageRetirement plan options Work Environment Mission-driven, team-based care modelModern dental facilities with pediatric-friendly operatoriesSupportive leadership and opportunities for professional growth
