Job Title: Piping Design Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Piping Design Engineer to join our team. The role involves creating piping designs for high energy and process piping, ensuring adherence to industry codes and standards. You will work with 3D modeling software to perform pipe routing, generate layouts, and support project teams through model reviews and clash detections. Responsibilities + Perform piping designs for high energy and process piping according to industry codes and standards. + Utilize 3D piping modeling software such as PDS, PDMS, and SmartPLANT 3D (SP3D) for design tasks. + Conduct pipe routing on high temperature systems, considering space constraints, stress analysis, accessibility, and maintenance. + Interpret and mark-up Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID). + Generate and maintain piping layouts, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings. + Collaborate with process, mechanical, and structural teams to integrate piping designs. + Support model reviews, clash detection, and resolution using SmartPLANT Review and Freeview. + Select appropriate piping materials, valves, and fittings as per project specifications. + Prepare and review piping drawings, isometrics, and bill of materials (BOM). + Ensure designs adhere to safety regulations, client standards, and industry best practices. + Work with project teams to implement constructability and maintainability improvements. + Deliver engineering outputs within project schedules to meet deadlines. + Perform other duties as assigned by senior design team members. Essential Skills + 3-5 years of experience in piping design. + Proficiency in PDS, PDMS, Autopipe, SP3D, or similar 3D modeling software. + Ability to interpret and create P&ID, isometrics, and piping layouts. + Experience with SmartPLANT, AutoCAD, and related tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate Degree or Diploma in Piping Design or Mechanical Engineering. + Experience in piping, plant layout, or industrial projects is a plus. + Familiarity with the person B31.3, ANSI, API, and ASTM standards for piping systems is desirable. + Field experience is an advantage. + Willingness to learn new software, tools, and industry trends. + Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Work Environment You will be part of a small engineering team of six, working in an engineering office environment. The standard working hours are 8-5 or 9-6, but flexibility to work extended hours is required to coordinate with teams in Japan or India. Our company specializes in gas turbine engineering for power plants and business of steam turbines. While the machines are sourced from Japan, assembly and auxiliary components are handled in the USA. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Mary, FL.
