Heavy Civil Construction Estimator - Support Competitive and Accurate Project BiddingJob Overview:Company: Florence Cement Company.Salary/Pay Rate: $100,000 - $150,000/year + performance bonusLocation: Shelby Township, MI (Onsite)Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.Schedule: Monday - Friday (weekends as needed during peak bidding period).Project Scope: Heavy Civil, MDOT, Infrastructure, and Roadway Projects (Commercial, Industrial).Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.The OpportunityFlorence Cement Company is seeking a Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to support the preparation and submission of bids for roadway, infrastructure, and site development projects. This role is responsible for analyzing project requirements, developing accurate cost estimates, and coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.You'll play a key role in helping the company pursue and secure new work across public and private sector projects.What You'll DoReview project plans, specifications, and bid documentsPrepare detailed cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materialsDevelop bid packages and support overall bid strategySolicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricingIdentify project risks, site conditions, and potential cost impactsManage multiple bids and ensure deadlines are metCoordinate with project managers and operations teams during bid preparationMaintain organized and accurate estimating documentationSupport post-bid activities, including scope reviews and handoff to operationsWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fieldExperience in heavy civil construction estimatingFamiliarity with roadway, infrastructure, or site development projectsAbility to read and interpret construction plans and specificationsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with estimating and project software (HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob, Microsoft Project, or similar)Valid driver's license requiredPreferred ExperienceExperience bidding on DOT or public sector projects (e.g., MDOT)Familiarity with subcontractor coordination and bid solicitation processesUnderstanding of production rates, equipment costs, and jobsite logisticsExperience working in a team-oriented construction environmentCompensation & BenefitsWeekly pay401(k) with 3% guaranteed company contributionMedical, dental, and vision insurance (company-paid, including family coverage)Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO planPaid time off and holidaysLife and long-term disability insurance optionsVehicle allowance, gas card, and company phone (role-dependent)Performance-based bonusesAbout Florence Cement CompanyFlorence Cement Company is a family-owned civil contractor with over 60 years of experience in roadway construction, concrete paving, excavation, and site development.
